Recall that the waters off Greenland are the quick route from Europe to Asia. There’s not a way to go past Greenland.  So this isn’t an event in a backwater, but in a place that is suddenly been thrust to the center of future global trade routes…
 

Pro-independence party wins Greenland parliament election

COPENHAGEN: The pro-independence Inuit Ataqatigiit party has won Greenland’s parliamentary elections, ousting the social democratic Siumut party which has run the Danish territory for the past three decades, according to definitive results published in Nuuk.  

The leftist Inuit Ataqatigiit (Inuit Community, IA) took 43.7% of the vote, double its standing in the last election in 2005, while Siumut slid 3.9 points to take 26.5%.
